å Mary Cox, ARBS, SWA (b. 1938), a bronze bust portrait of Sir Oliver Popplewell, brown patination, signed in the maquette, on a stone base, 48cm high overall. The Honourable Sir Oliver Bury Popplewell (b. 1927) is a former British judge. He chaired the inquiry into the Bradford City stadium fire, presided over the libel case brought by Jonathan Aitken, MP against The Guardian newspaper which eventually led to Aitkin`s imprisonment for perjury, and was widely reported for asking "What is Linford`s lunchbox?" during a case over which he was presiding, brought by Linford Christie. Fay Simmons, ARBA (New Zealander, b. 1938), `Head of a Young Woman`, plaster bust, the walnut base with a paper label from Richard McDougal, Fine Art, 5 Clarges Street, London, 47cm high overall. The present lot bears a strong resemblance to the head of the mother in `Mother and Child` by Simmons exhibited at the Cement and Concrete Association`s centre at Wexham Springs in 1964. An Aesthetic Movement ebonised, gilt and painted side cabinet, 1870s, the shelved and mirrored back with titled painted panels and two small drawers, the canted base with two drawers above two painted panel doors flanked by leaded glass doors, 223.5cm high, 182cm wide, 55cm deep. A stained bent beech and upholstered four piece suite, originally designed by Josef Hoffmann for the Cabaret Fledermaus in 1907, comprising a sofa, two armchairs and a glass-topped table, re-upholstered in a Wiener Werkstatte style fabric, the table with an indistinct maker`s paper label `MAN...`, the chairs 75cm high (4).
