19th Century Irish School 'Head and Shoulder Portrait of Myles Byrne,' O.O.C., depicting a young Gentleman with curled hair, sporting a black velvet jacket and scarf with a harp emblem, approx. 30cms x 23cms (12" x 9") inscribed on reverse, later gilt frame. (1) * Myles Byrne was born in 1780, he was a leader in the Irish Rebellion of 1798 and went on to be Chef de /Bataillon in Napoleon's Irish legion. A native of Wexford, he died in 1862 in Paris.
Maurice MacGonigal, PRHA (1900-1979) "The Lady by the Sea," O.O.B., depicting an attractive young Lady wearing head scarf, blue cardigan, red skirt and hob nail boots, leaning against a turf shovel standing by the pier with sea behind and currachs and mountains in the distance, signed 'Mac Congail," lower right, approx. 39cms x 30cms (15" x 12") in silver frame. 1945 Dated Unusual Airborne Denison Smockbrown, tan and green camouflage material smock. The front half zip now removed and later full zip. Patch chest and lower pockets with flaps secured by brass press studs. Cuffs with tightening straps and knitted cuffs. Crotch strap press studs to the rear. Unusual full width shoulder zip into a rectangular pocket. Internal label faded "Smocks Denison Airborne Troops" dated 1945. Some service wear. Together with a green scrim net scarf. 2 items.

Ca. 618-907 AD. A mold-formed pottery tomb attendant figure in the form of a female musician who is wearing a long robe with a red-painted skirt, upper clothing in cream, and a green scarf. She holds a tambourine in her left hand, and her face beneath a large hair bun displays a harmonic expression. This piece has been precisely dated by means of a Thermo Luminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla, an independent German Laboratory. The samples collected date the piece to the period reflected in its style, whilst also showing no modern trace elements. The TL certificate with its full report will accompany this lot. Size: L:355mm / W:95mm ; 1.25kg Provenance: From the private collection of a Somerset gentleman; previously in an old British collection, formed before 2000 on the UK /European art markets.
Ca. 618-907 AD. A hollow-moulded terracotta female dancer depicted with her upper body slightly bent to the side, with her right arm up in the air, indicating motion. She wears a long flowing gown with her hands hidden in long sleeves. The lower part of the dress is red, and the bodice is cream. A long scarf hangs from her right arm. The dancer herself is carefully modelled, with her hair gathered into a fine topknot, pink cheeks, red pursed lips, delicate brows, and smiling eyes. Dance as an art form reached its peak in China during the Tang Dynasty, which is now known as the golden age of Chinese music and dance. Indeed, during this time The Great Music Bureau was created as a means through with to train musicians and dancers for the imperial court. For a similar see The Yale University Art Gallery, 1939.476. From the back we see another hair decoration. The statue is slightly leaning backwards.
