A George III silver caddy spoon, Samuel Pemberton, Birmingham (date letter worn) with turned wooden handle and shovel shaped bowl with gilt interior, 8.9cm longCondition Report; There appears to be a small patch of solder concealing a split of the handle (as pictured). There is a split where the handle meets the bowl (as pictured). There are the beginning signs of splitting to one corner of the bowl (as pictured) but no other signs of splitting, major denting or repair. There does appear to be some slight bending/misshaping to the bowl. Hallmarks are heavily worn. The gilt is worn, but largely in good order. The wooden turned handle appears in good order, some scratching and wear but no splitting or breakage.
A JAPANESE LACQUERED WOOD NATSUME EDO OR MEIJI PERIOD, 18TH OR 19TH CENTURY The tea caddy with a cylindrical body raised on a short foot, delicately painted with a continuous band of tokeiso (passion flowers), scrolling tendrils and leaves rendered in gold and silver takamaki-e and kirikane, with bands of brocade designs above the foot and to the rim, the lid with a chrysanthemum flowerhead encircling the circular knop, the inside in black lacquer, 7cm.
