A George VI Silver-Gilt Scent-Bottle, by Tessiers Ltd., London, 1938 in the form of a George I silver tea-caddy, slightly tapering oval and with slightly stepped vase, the screw-cap with baluster finial, engraved with an initial below a marquess' coronet13.5cm high, 10oz 3dwt, 315grFully marked on side and further part marked on cover, underneath and on stopper. The base stamped with maker's name. There is some overall surface scratching and wear. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the gilding.

Rita Ferguson (Mrs Charles) was a silversmith based in Edinburgh, having a studio on York Place and then working from 214A Braid Road. Notably, she made the Edinburgh freedom of the city casket that was presented to Sir Winston Churchill. Provenance: by family descent.
