A Victorian walnut toilet box, of casket form with mother of pearl shield shaped escutcheons, opening to reveal fitted interior, housing eleven jars of varying forms, some with silver plated mounts, having lift out tray to reveal storage, 11 7/8 x 9in. (30.2 x 22.9cm.), 6¾in. (17.2cm.) high. No tools, i.e manicure set etc, no key, overall good.

Starke Gebrauchsspuren von Politur, stark fleckig und etwas verkratzt. | Third Reich 1933-1945 - Silver-plated casket with wood inlay, on the lid engravings with the motto of the SS, SS runes, swastika, national eagle with swastika and the lettering LSSAH of the Leibstandarte. Ornaments at the edges. Carved bird coat of arms on the front of the box. On 4 feet, stamped EB (probably maker's mark) and TENN on the underside. Approx. 14x21cm. H approx. 4.5 cm. Strong signs of wear from polish, heavily stained and somewhat scratched.

A PYU BUDDHIST RELIQUARY CASKET, BURMA (NOW MYANMAR), CIRCA 7TH CENTURY, silver, of cylindrical form, the sides decorated with a series of Buddha images in repousse relief, seated within an arcade of columnar niches, the lid with lotus petal design, 9cm high; 12cm diam. Provenance: Collection of a deceased diplomat, thence by descent. For a related silver casket in the National Museum, Yangon (Rangoon) found in the Khin Ba Stupa, Sri Ksetra (Hmawza), see Fraser-Lu and Stadner 2015, no.2, pp.92-93. In the text, the authors mention a cylindrical casket found in the same place which may be closer in form to this object.
MAMLUK REVIVAL COPPER AND SILVER INLAID BRASS CASKET EGYPT OR SYRIA, 20TH CENTURY of rectangular form with a hinged sloping top lid and a front hinged lid, all sides profusely decorated with calligraphic roundels, cartouches with split palmettes and knotted calligraphy designs, all on a reserve of zig zag motifs, the sloping shoulders of the top lid decorated with a band of kufic calligraphy with leafy vines, border divisions comprising narrow bands of repeat leafy vines, the upper lid decorated on the inside with a large lobed calligraphic cartouche surrounded by trefoil motifs containing split palmettes, the interior revealing a wooden tray with nine compartments, the front cover lid decorated with elongated kufic calligraphy and further calligraphic cartouches on the inside and once opened revealing a set of seven drawers and a central arched cupboard, all decorated with split palmettes and zig zag motifsDimensions:54cm wide x 49.4cm high x 38.3cm deep

Rubbing to the decoration. Rocks on a flat surface. The locking mechanism missing. The locking plate slides off and reveals a vacant cavity.
A FINE LAUNCHING CASKET FOR THE PROTECTED CRUISER H.M.S. ESSEX, 1901elaborately carved overall in oak, the lid with silver plaque inscribed H.M.S. “Essex” within foliate border, hinged lid, the interior lined throughout with navy blue plush velvet, fitted compartment for ornate boxwood gavel and chisel with silvered head etched ‘B’ with a double-headed eagle to the reverse, the lid with finely carved boxwood half model of Essex complete with masts, main and secondary armament and other details -- 7 x 16 x 12in. (18 x 40.5 x 30.5cm.)Essex was one of ten 9,800-ton Monmouth Class cruisers built to counter a general increase in such vessels by foreign navies. Launched at Pembroke DY by the Captain-Superintendant's wife, Mrs Charles Barlow on 29th August 1901, she was sent to Devonport for completion and arming which was achieved by March 1904. Assigned to the 4th Cruiser Squadron (Admiral Craddock), she was briefly involved in the Tampico Affair of the Mexican Revolution in April 1914 and was struck by small arms fire. A few weeks later when Craddock received the preliminary war warning on 27 July, he ordered Essex to join her sister Lancaster in Bermuda to protect British shipping and destroy any German commerce raiders but soon transferred to the Caribean where there was more German activity, and On 7 September, she captured the tender, SS Bethania (tender to an armed merchant cruiser) before escorting a troop convoy from Halifax to Queenstown. Re-assigned to the 7th Cruiser Squadron, she captured a German merchantman, SS Telde, on 3 May 1916 in the Canary Islands. Later she served as both a destroyer depot ship, training ship and accommodation ship before being paid off and sold in 1919 for break up in Germany in 1921.
