An Alston cream and gold striped two seater sofa, 200cm, together with a pair of matching armchairs and a footstool (4)Overall condition is complete, with only light signs of use. Collected from as house clearance, so has been used. The colours are quite muted, they pick up some blue in certain lights, but are more beige and gold.

The frame is complete and the cane is undamaged, but there are some light scuffs and marks to the frame from moving it, which look like they could be polished away. The fabric is clean and looks recent. The frame is dusty and needs and clean.

A Late 19th Century French Beech or Walnut Framed Two-Seater Sofa, late 19th century, recovered in cream cotton fabric, with rounded arms and two squab cushions above a reeded seat rail, on turned and fluted tapering legs133cm by 69cm by 84cmIn very good condition, however, if being critical, one of the arm supports does have a slight mark (as photograped). The sofa is structurally sound and appears to be of excellent quality and substantial weight. The height from the floor to the underside of the seat is 22cm. The cushions are feather-filled, the sprung base seems good and the sofa is comfortable. The sofa has been recovered fairly recently.

There are some minor scuffs on the base of each piece, mainly around the arm supports. The fabric does vary in condition throughout, with evidence of some bleaching and variations in colour. A French Louis XVI style 20th century carved oak & upholstered two seater canape sofa. The sofa having an intricately carved back rest with ribbon shaped embellishment atop flanked by abstract motifs. Padded upholstered back rest over padded seat. C scrolled carved elbow rests with acanthus leaves decorations throughout. Raised on reeded tapering supports. Measures approx. 102cm x 128cm x 55cm.
East and West Africa 1887-1900, 2 clasps, 1893-94, 1892 (541. Pte. W. F. Jordon. 1/W.I. Rgt.) minor edge bruise, otherwise very fine £260-£300 --- W. F. Jordan served with the 1st Battalion, West India Regiment, in punitive operations against the Tambia, Tonistaba and Jebus people in Sierra Leone and Southern Nigeria from 8 March 1892 to 25 May 1892. He was subsequently involved in two separate operations against the Sofa tribesmen and on the Gambia; sold with copied medal rolls confirming entitlement.
