Staffordshire ceramics.- Standing figure of Robert Burns, 328 x 170mm, titled based with raised capitals, vent hole to verso, a fine example, [Harding 35], c.1890.⁂ Provenance: The estate of the late Lord Bob Boothby (1900-1986), Parliamentary Private Secretary to Chancellor of the Exchequer Winston Churchill and campaigner for homosexual law reform. Despite his esteemed position, he had a colourful private life in having an affair with Lady Dorothy Macmillan, wife of future-PM Harold Macmillan, and later becoming embroiled with the Kray twins.
Staffordshire figure group of Uncle Tom and Eva, 27cm and a Staffordshire arbour group of Uncle Tom and Eva, 14.5cm. (2) 27cm group: Firing cracks to Eva's skirt and scarf. Graze to back of stump. Old chip to back and edge of hat. Crazed throughout.14.5cm group: applied floral decoration losses, colours rubbed, firing crack to back of arbour.
