Two small pocket compasses and a miniature globe, 19th century, one with hinged rectangular case enclosing printed paper sundials and inset compass, the cover with printed latitudes for American, English, Italian, French, Spanish and German cities 105mm x 68mm; the other a universal sundial with compass by T. Bolton, Birmingham in turned wood case 67mm diameter; and a miniature French globe on ebonised stand, marked 'JFL Paris' 12cm high (3)The turned compass appears to operate, label to inside of cover with directions for use, in generally good condition.The folding compass with replacement thread, pin damage to corners of lid cover, general scuffing and wear from use, appears to work.The globe rather darkened, probably re-varnished, very slight wear around equator.

Viewing and collection by appointment for this lotThe 'Hampton Court' sundial, the dial signed John Francis, Kew, the circular top on a support of three lead cherubs and a circular stone plinth, 68cm diameter Provenance:- Dunkirk Manor and Purchased from Sir George Godfrey-Faussett by the second Earl St Aldwyn in 1967. The former was the son of Sir Bryan Godfrey Godfrey-Faussett GCVO CMG (1863-1945) who was equerry to George V, Edward VII and George VI. His widow was given a grace and favour apartment at Hampton Court and reputedly several items acquired for Williamstrip Park by the second Earl were originally at Hampton Court The dial looks to be somewhat weathered with a verdigris type surface. The dial sits on a circular reconstituted stone pad which has a section of the border loose and several cracks elsewhere to the border. The pad is supported on a central iron pole which is quite rusty. The three cherubs all have some issues, cracks to wings, feet and so on. In need of careful restoration.

An unusual Burmantofts faience vase or basket, late 19th century, of single-handled form,. yellow or ochre glazed, modelled as a Sundial shell surrounded by sealife including lobster and fish, impressed 'BURMANTOFTS FAIENCE', 21cm high overallCondition:Typical crazing to the glaze throughout and a couple of firing crack. Slight glaze wear/nibbling to the ends of the seaweed handle. No cracks or chips.
A WILTSHIRE REGENCY BRONZE SUNDIAL SIGNED ABRAHAM BATH, EARLY 19TH CENTURY Signed 9" dial set on later stone and cast iron support 89cm high overall Jacob Abraham is recorded as an optician and instrument maker and retailer operating from numerous address in Bath from c.1809-c.1830 Condition Report: With weathering - colour variance from exposure- wear, marks, knocks and scratches as per age, handling, use, and cleaning. The item as catalogued and photographed with earlier sundial on later mixed age stand. The circular stone base does form part of the lot. The total height including the gnomon is approximately 103cm Dial plate with colour variance from weather and handling. We have no further history or provenance.
