A late Victorian silver plated three-bottle tantalus, Betjemann's Patent London, circa 1800, the action stamped for the maker and serial numbered 10427, containing a set of three hobnail-cut decanters and stoppers, the tantalus 32cm high, 41cm wideCondition Report: Key to case is present. The decanters do not fit well into the case (too tight) suggesting that although of the correct form, they are not original. In addition they are a little too tall causing the guard to scrap the top of the ball stoppers by a millimetre or so and thus mark them. This has caused the stoppers to be rammed home, in the process cracking one decanter at the neck. Generally they have some chips to the corners. The case is in rather better condition than the bottles. Condition Report Disclaimer
