Given the title 'The Golden Rhino', James eludes to the notion that the rhino horn has exceeded the value of gold. Playing perfectly on classical sculptural references and taxidermy, this scale model of a Rhino's head makes a powerful interior and environmental statement. James has given this Rhino sculpture a liquid bronze finish to represent the conservation issues of this animal, only two wild Northern White Rhino females left on the planet, whilst also creating a life like texture of the creature's distinctive skin. Taxidermy: Early 20th century cased Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), in naturalistic setting with grasses, set against a painted waterside backdrop, enclosed within a pitch pine three pane display case, indistinct hand written inscription verso At Stock Mill in Burniston Drain [�] shot 1913 April 13th by TGA, H86cm L56cm D28.5cm - Condition Report Overall fair condition, no signs of infestation as far as we can tell. However, the wire support is protruding slightly through the head above the beak. The beak has a small loss to the top. The legs are dark in colour, this may be to simulate mud. The backdrop has a split running all the way down the middle. Ground work is worn and split, and lifting in places. The case is ok, some scratches and general small knocks.
