A late 18th Century gilt metal chatelaine for a child, the hook mount with the figure of a shepherd with sheep, dog and birds below a tree. The three short chains with scallop shell form links to a central figural decorated etui (tools lacking), and flanked by a pair of hinged top decorated boxes, one containing the original gilt metal child's thimble, 14.5cms max.

Pardonneau supplied jewellery and other objects to the King of the Belgians, Leopold II, to which the L below the crown on the lid of the box may relate.
