Jacob (1942-1988), Paris , NOTE :Le décor de ce carreau correspond à celui ornant les parois à l'entrée du tombeau de Selim II (r. 1566-74). Ce tombeau fut achevé par l'architecte Sinan en 1577 dans le cimetière de la basilique Sainte Sophie à Istanbul. Le carreau proposé ici fait certainement partie des carreaux fabriqués ultérieurement dans le courant du XVIIe siècle pour compléter le décor d'un panneau composé de carreaux similaires.

Composition cen garnies d'églantines échancrées, entourés de fleurs composites écloses et tiges entrelacées.(Éclats de glaçure au bord). Turquie ottomane, Iznik, vers 1570. Jacob (1942-1988), Paris , NOTE :Les couleurs turquoise et cobalt de ce carreau rappellent les productions de carreaux ottomans du deuxième quart du XVIe siècle, et ils sont parfois d'ailleurs catalogués vers 1545-50. Mais la composition et les branches d'églantine à l'intérieur des fleurs incitent à dater ce groupe de carreaux vers 1570. Un carreau de la même série s'est vendu chez Artcurial, Arts d'Orient et de l'Islam, 11 avril 2013, lot 137. , Un autre carreau similaire était exposé à Londres : voir le catalogue d'exposition par E. Grunberg - E.M. Torn, Four Centuries of Ottoman Taste, The Kyburg Gallery, London, 1988 : n°16 et illustré au dos du catalogue. Original vintage propaganda poster for an International Seminar on the Sabra-Shatila Massacre held in Athens on September 16-18, 1983. The poster features an illustration of a black army boot and a blood stained knife on the end of an automated gun with yellow red and blue children's playing blocks on a square pattern brown and black tile floor. Text in English and Arabic in yellow at the bottom of the poster. Sabra Shatila was the killing of between 460 and 3,500 civilians, mostly Palestinians and Lebanese Shiites by a militia in the Sabra neighbourhood and the adjacent Shatila refugee camp in Beirut, Lebanon on 16-18 September 1982.
