Jubilee 1897 Medal for Zulu Chiefs, 38mm, silver, the obverse featuring a veiled crowned profile of Queen Victoria facing left, the reverse inscribed ‘To commemorate the Sixtieth Year of the Reign of H.M. Queen Victoria 1897’, within a laurel wreath, with Royal Arms above and Star of India below, unnamed as issued, fitted with claw, small ring, and straight bar suspension, and fitted with riband for neck wear, minor edge bruising, good very fine, rare £200-£240 --- Natal colonial archives held in Pietermaritzburg state that about 200 of these medals were issued to Native Zulu Chiefs. Photographs of Zulu Chiefs wearing the medal exist, sometimes along with the King Edward VII Coronation Medal. It is believed that the recipient's name was written in ink on the suspension bar to facilitate an orderly distribution to the tribal regions. Sometimes the recipient scratched over the ink and the name has been thus preserved.

Original vintage propaganda poster issued by OSPAAAL - Organisation of Solidarity with the People of Asia, Africa and Latin America, a Cuban political movement founded in Havana in 1966, created to fight globalisation, imperialism, neoliberalism and defend human rights. The poster was issued in support of the Day of Solidarity with the Congo (L) February 13, it features artwork depicting a Congolese tribesman in a ritual clothing and headdress with a spear set over a red and black tribal mask background, with a depiction of tied hands being cut free with a spear in one of the masks eyes. Congo-L - Republic of Congo Leopoldville, was a state in Central Africa from 1960 to 1966. Excellent condition. Country of issue: Cuba, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 53x33, year of printing: 1970s.
Tribal Rugs; a large old Persian Tabriz Carpet, the finely hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton base, red ground within a blue border, the whole woven with stylised animals - goats, deer, camels, tigers(?), and exotic birds among scrolling floral patterns, short dense pile, in good overall condition, L 608cm x W 368cm.

Ethnographic Native Tribal - An African ceremonial dark hardwood Kibango staff from the Luba tribe, the top with a kneeling woman with scarified decoration around her navel, holding her breasts and wearing red beads and with a cord around her waist, with carved face mask, the shaft with geometric decoration, length 111.7cm. NB: From a French private collection.
Ethnographic Native Tribal - A Papua New Guinea turtle shaped carved wooden katinka (plate), bears label verso 'The wood piece is a turtle a design of a sea turtle, which is used to serve sago in a dry form. It is given to me by the Papuans of Casuarinencoast between Ajats and the mouth of the Diguriver in New South Guinea, now West Irian. The designs consist of Leguans, human beings and lizards, Leguans and lizards are very important in the mythology of the Asmattribe, a headhunting tribe, making their living as fishers, hunters and sago growers. They are the only people in West New Guinea with a sense of making sculptures, length 58.5cm.
