A GEORGE III MAHOGANY AND NEEDLEWORK POLE SCREENCIRCA 1810the banner above pole support, wrythen vase and tripod base135cm highProvenance: Supplied by Oliver Messel Condition Report: There are some marks, scratches, knocks, chips, splits and abrasions consistent with age and use.There are losses, observations and restorations including: finial missing with a possible replacement section; cracks and filled repair to the frame, gaps to some mitred corners; the red fabric to the back of the banner is marked, faded and loose on the frame; bruising to the pole from the movement of the fittings of the banner; an old repair where the pole meets the base, with later cracks and probably needing a new repair; cracks to the turned base above the vase; the crewel work fabric not original to the pole screen; the crewel work dated 1709 and a fragment from a larger piece, with tears, holes, darning, discolouration, marks and stains etc; some fine cracks along the grain of the timber to the legs.Please refer to the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition.
