A George III Constabulary Truncheon, And Two Victorian Constabulary TruncheonsThe First Dated 1798, The Other Two 19th CenturyEach of hardwood, the first painted in gilt and polychrome (some losses) with the crowned royal arms, and the arms of the City of London in an oval above a banner painted 'Bridge. Ward 1798', and with swelling grip; the second of mallet form, the head painted in polychrome and gilt against a black ground with crowned 'VR' cypher, and painted ribbed grip with iron staple for suspension; the last of tapering circular section painted with a crowned 'V.R' cypher against a dark blue and black ground (some losses), and with rounded finial painted red (3)65.5 cm., 27 cm. and 51 cm. 19th century policeman's truncheon with VR cypher (Queen Victoria) over SC possibly being the initial of the constabulary. Together with a more modern rosewood truncheon with leather wrist thong. (2) (B.P. 21% + VAT) Truncheon with crown , there is wear with scratches , noticeable crack to the crown area. minor loss to paint work. the other - used no obvious damage .

A bronze mace head comprising a long cylindrical shaft with narrow flanged base, the upper section with three vertical relief panels decorated by herringbone pattern, divided and bordered by three parallel ridges, similar band with ridged horizontal grooves around the base.
