The collectioncomprises a 'family' group: sole of adult male shoe, of adult female shoe and a child's shoe. The Thames is a prolific place for such kind of finds: Tudor soles, large men’s and female soles, petite lady’s soles and the soles from children's shoes. Comprising: a single-edged peasant iron dagger with reconstructed wooden handle; a Tudor iron knife with scale tang handle and a decorative pommel; an early type of iron fork (pricker) with reconstructed wooden handle. 633 grams total, knife: 14.5-42.5 cm (5 3/4 - 16 3/4 in.). Knives with long wide blades would have been used at table for carving meat, but in difficult times they could be a proper weapon in the hand of common people. With flat oval cross-section stem, tapering very slightly from the bowl and ending in a simple ball seal knop; a maker's mark within a circular border has been stamped within the bowl, adjacent to the stem. Cf. similar spoon in PAS SOM-7C2A26. 37 grams, 16.2 cm (6 3/8 in.). Spoons with this type of knop date from the 16th century A.D. The knop, when bearing an owner's initial, could be used as a seal. Facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a Tudor crown / crowned royal monogram of EIIR with the monarchs name and date of coronation around the edge, the ribbon is dark red with two narrow blue stripes in the centre and narrow white edges, with original ladies bow ribbon. 127gr total, case 93mm (). The 1953 Coronation Medal was made to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on the 2nd June 1953. For Coronation and Jubilee medals, the practice up until 1977 was that United Kingdom authorities decided on a total number to be produced, then allocated a proportion to each of the Commonwealth countries and Crown dependencies and possessions. Henry Avray Tipping FSA (22 August 1855 – 16 November 1933) was a French-born British writer on country houses and gardens, a garden designer, and Architectural Editor of Country Life magazine for 17 years. Christopher Edward Clive Hussey (21 October 1899 – 20 March 1970) was one of the chief authorities on British domestic architecture of the generation that also included Dorothy Stroud and Sir John Summerson. This major venture was a collaboration between Hussey and Tipping, his mentor and predecessor at Country Life magazine. (9)

The exterior shows some signs of light wear, but no large dents or losses in the design. The tin would benifit from a cleaning. The exterior is slightly yellowed, but in a uniform manner. Lid fits snugly with no bends.
