An early 20th century silver and enamel vanity case, import marks for Stockwell and Co, London 1927, comprising easel back mirror, button hook, shoe horn, six dressing table jars, clothes and hair brush, all decorated in blue and white enamels, within fitted interior and leather case (at fault) Condition report: Staining seen throughout the case. Mirror - Scratches and blemishes seen throughout the mirror plate, large concentrated area seen to the bottom of the mirror. White enamel border with minor areas of blemishes and scratches, seen particularly with x10 loupe. Blue enamel with minor surface blemishes (seen with x10 loupe) Hanging bale seen to the reverse. Easel back in working order. Blemishes and staining to the reverse.General tarnishing, discolouration and surface scratches/blemishes seen to the white metal mount.
A 19th century coromandel wood ladies travelling vanity case, fitted with a series of silver plated jars and bottles with fall front opening to two drawers and with Bramah patent lock. Height 21 cm, width 33 cm, depth 26 cm. The top of the box has a full-length split and age related scratches and some further light cracking as well. The side and back are in a similar condition. On the front the brass stringing to the top two lines is missing. The interior is generally in very good order, the lid has some marks to the leather on the left and right hand sides and the scissors, tweezers etc. are missing. The drawers open and close as the should but the leather to the lower drawer has had a pull tab at some point which is no longer there and the leather has torn slightly. Approximately 1 cm in length. Generally in our opinion the box is in very good condition for its age.The box has no key.
