BESWICK; a Double Diamond advertising figure modelled as a businessman running, holding a bottle of beer and a briefcase, inscribed 'A Double Diamond Works Wonders' to either side of the base, height 21cm, together with a Wade turquoise Johnnie Walker ceramic jug, with logo to each side and inscribed 'Born 1820 - Still Going Strong', height 13.5cm (2).Condition Report: - Small chip to glaze on the figure's hat. Crazing throughout. The jug with tiny chip to the interior edge of the spout and a few firing flaws.

The Artist Signing 'CB', (English, mid 18th Century), previously attributed to Charles BoitField Marshal George Wade, half length facing right, in a coat, half armour and a chemise with stock and jabot, tied wig. Grey washes on vellum, signed and inscribed on the reverse General Wade/ CB Fecit., stained turned wood frame. Oval, 83mm (3 1/4in) highFootnotes:Field Marshal Wade (1673–1748) was an Anglo-Irish officer who served in numerous wars, including the Nine Years' War, the War of the Spanish Succession and the War of the Austrian Succession. He also participated in the suppression of the Jacobite risings of 1715 and 1745. Sent to inspect Scotland by King George I in 1724 he was thereafter involved with the construction of some 390 km of roads and thirty bridges.
