This Tale is now reprinted, for the reader's greater convenience, from the stereotype plates of 'MASTER HUMPHREY'S CLOCK', where it was occasionally interrupted by other matter, which is expunged from this Edition. It is presented here,complete, in one volume. The numbering of the pages will be occasionally found to be defective, in consequence." Very tall 8vo, page-block 26cms tall. Publisher's olive-green fine-grained cloth, covers with rule and cable decorations in blind, spine with title and author's name in gilt. Plain light yellow e.p's. With running-head of Master Humphrey's Clock throughout, but none of that text present. 228 leaves. Page 2 is numbered 2-38, p.47 numbered 47-79, p.96 numbered 96-102, p.224 blank, p.307 reverts to number 1. With 83 fine textual engravings by George Cattermole and Hablot K. Browne ('Phiz'). A well-read copy, covers worn and faded, some light foxing but the plates in excellent condition.The Hyde family copy, with bookplate of Douglas Hyde (co-founder of the Gaelic League and first President of Ireland), and with the signature of his mother Bessie Hyde on f.f.e.p., 'From her aff[ectiona]te A. Hyde, August 11 1873', and further signed on t.p. Laid in is a copy of the Gaelic League Constitution dated October 1896, with markings in Hyde's usual blue pencil, highlighting statements of the League's non-political and non-sectarian nature (which was challenged by Republican elements circa 1915). A collection of Whitefriars glassware including two tangerine orange bark vases, approx 15 cm high and a similar blue bark vase, a tapered blue bark vase and four various stem vases with bark type decoration and a similar pale blue bark vase CONDITION REPORTS All items have general wear and tear and are in need of a good clean. Have clearly been in a smoker's house for some period of time. Vendor is a private lady. There are two tangerine orange bark vases although only one photographed in the main picture.
