A cavalry officer’s sword, dated 1885, of the 3rd King’s Own Hussars, very slightly curved, fullered blade 35”, by Wilkinson, no 26989 (for 1885) on backstrap, etched with crowned Royal Cypher, regimental badge, motto, regimental title, and 12 battle honours “Salamanca” to “Chillianwallah” with owner’s crest of a hand holding a bugle with motto “Ever Ready” at forte, regulation pierced scroll pattern hilt, with diced pommel and thumb piece to backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings. Good Condition, the blade clean (some wear and dents to scabbard). Plate 22
A good WWII officer’s sword of the Coldstream Guards, straight fullered blade 32½”, by Wilkinson, with no 68076 (for 1939) on backstrap, and etched with crowned GVIR cypher, regimental badge and 32 battle honours “Tangier 1680” to “Hindenberg Line”, regulation plated hilt, the guard incorporating regimental badge, plain pommel, diced backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its brown leather field service scabbard with frog. An 1895 pattern infantry officer’s sword, straight blade 32” by Wilkinson No 33843 (for 1896), etched with crowned R Arms and VR cypher within panels, owner’s initials C.E.E., in scrolled panels, Wilkinson’s patent solid plated hilt, without inner turnover edge, incorporating crowned VR cypher, chequered grip, in its leather FS scabbard and leather case (AF). Basically GC (rust patches to blade, hilt plating dull).

BRITISH 18th CENTURY TOKENS, John Wilkinson, Silver Three-Shillings and Sixpence, 1788, obv bust in profile right, IOHN WILKINSON IRON MASTER around, plain coat with collar, four buttons on coat, upper tie of queue points to the N of IOHN, two points to queue under shoulder, tip of the coat almost touches the rim, stop after R, the stop in line with the centre of R, nose to MA, rev barge under sail left, FINE SILVER around, 1788 in exergue, edge WILLEY SNEDSHILL BERSHAM BRADLEY (Atkins p.228, 251; D&H Warwickshire 337). Trifling marks, otherwise better than extremely fine and attractively toned. Wilkinson seems to have seriously considered the idea of striking silver coin to pay his workers. Originally tariffed at 3s 6d he likely would have been ultimately obliged to reduce the redemption value to 2s, something more closely approximating its worth. In any case, the venture was abandoned, with few, if any, specimens circulating for any length of time.

An 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword to Colonel Ross Thompson R.E., 82cm blade by HENRY WILKINSON, serial no. 38022, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cypher, crowned Royal arms and owner's initials RT, regulation pierced steel hilt incorporating the Royal cypher, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard, together with a small quantity of research. Colonel Ross Thompson was born in 1838 and variously served as a Lieutenant in the Madras Engineers before transferring to the Royal Engineers where he obtained the rank of Colonel by 1885. Eventually Ross Thompson rejoined the Madras Engineers in 1892 and was attached to the 2nd Queen Victoria's Sappers & Miners. On the 5th of December 1919 at the age of 81 Colonel Ross Thompson died and is listed on the 1914-18 Madras War Memorial at Chennai, being one of the oldest known deaths in service.
A Victorian 1854 Pattern Guards Officer's Sword, 82.5cm clean blade by HENRY WILKINSON, serial no. 8334, retaining most of its original polish and etched only with a crest at the forte, regulation steel gothic hilt incorporating a flaming grenade, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard. Hilt and scabbard painted black. Captain William Robert Gamul Farmer JP DL. Born 12th of July 1838 and died in 1910. Lived at Nonsuch park.
An EVIIIR 1912 Pattern Cavalry Officer's Sword by Wilkinson, 88.5cm blade (patinated) etched with scrolling foliage, Royal Arms, EVIIR cypher, and owner's initials TDW, regulation plated steel hilt, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard complete with frog and leather knot.
A Third Pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife, 15.5cm flattened diamond section blade etched THE F-S FIGHTING KNIFE and WILKINSON SWORD CO. LTD LONDON on the ricasso, regulation ribbed hilt stamped 2 and engraved T. B. THURBER beneath the pommel, straight cross-guard, mounted on an oak plinth with various cap badges.
Commemorative Commando Third Pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife, 17.5cm flattened diamond section blade etched UNITED WE CONQUER 1940-45, WILKINSON SWORD LONDON, MADE IN ENGLAND, and with the limited edition serial no.W230, this series of daggers, limited to 500, was made for the American market, complete with Wilkinson Sword Letter.
Victorian 1897 Levee Pattern Sword by Wilkinsons, blade is numbered to the spine 36293. Blade is etched with foliage and Royal cipher. Forte has Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall. Regulation pierced guard with crown VR. Grip retains the original wire. Sword is housed in the original scabbard. Exterior of the sword shows surface rusting and is in need of cleaning. Blade has been tipped. Blade measures 32 inches.
Scarce 1827 Pattern Royal Navy Dockyard Battalion Officers Sword, lion head pommel with gilt metal dish guard having Victorian crowned fouled anchor. Grip retains the original wire. Blade is etched to one side with foliage and large Anchor to the centre with Royal Dockyard Battalion above, and the other side having foliage and crowned cipher. Some light surface staining and corrosion to the blade. Complete with the original brass mounted leather scabbard, having Wilkinson makers tablet on the reverse of the top chape. Blade measures 31 inches.
A pair of Royal Staffordshire Pottery Wilkinson Ltd "Storm" ovoid vases decorated by Butler, printed marks to base, height 20.5cm, a majolica glazed wrythen moulded vase in the manner of Dr Christopher Dresser, height 21.5cm, and an R. Mally & Co green majolica glazed pomander, diameter 12.5cm (4). CONDITION REPORT: Postage to UK is £18 plus VAT. Pomander: few chips to edges and cover. Green/brown vase: crazing to glaze, firing defect rim and firing and glazing imperfection to base. Pair: generally good condition, minor wear, area of scuffing to one and area of crazing inside another.
A late 19th century sidearm with pierced brass knuckle guard and blade dated 1888, in metal scabbard, length 107cm, and a Wilkinson bladed bayonet in scabbard, on original suede belt with brass buckle clasp, both belonged to J. Lonnon who served in the Royal Navy as a stoker. CONDITION REPORT: Some heavy wear to grip and raised points, scabbard tarnished, some pitting to the blade.
