2009 Jaguar X-Type Estate Ex-HM Queen Elizabeth II Transmission: automaticMileage:72544The Jaguar X-Type is a front-engine, all-wheel/front-wheel drive compact executive car manufactured and marketed from 2001 to 2009. In addition to offering Jaguar's first estate in series production, the X-Type would ultimately introduce its first diesel engine, four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive configuration. The X-Type was developed during the period when Jaguar was owned by Ford as a division of its Premier Automotive Group (PAG) (1999-2009) and marked Jaguar's entry into the critical compact executive segment. The estate was the first Jaguar model designed by Ian Callum. From its saloon counterpart, the design revised 420 tooled parts and 58 stampings for all components rearward of the windscreen, adding 150 pounds. This fantastic piece of Royal history is presented in Emerald Fire with Barley leather interior and the first owner was HM Queen Elizabeth II. This is confirmed by its original booklet stating its registration as PYN IF which can also be seen in photos with HM the Queen at the wheel. It comes with a sunroof, automatic transmission, electric windows, climate control, a good service history, Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and has been well maintained. The Royal Family might have a long history with Bentley state limousines, but they love Jaguars as well. Although the late Queen Elizabeth II was seen behind the wheel of several cars during her long reign, her favourite seems to be the Land Rover Defender. She had a particular liking for this model, but when that was unavailable, she had a back-up car, a Jaguar X-Type Estate. In the pictures available on the internet, you can see HM Queen Elizabeth II driving this very car with Her Majesty wearing sunglasses and a headscarf which was so typical. She looked happy and healthy, leaving Windsor Castle behind her and at the wheel of the Jaguar, driving up the Long Walk. From 2004 to 2009, the X-Type Estate wasn't among the most desirable models the brand ever built but who would have thought this would be one of Queen Elizabeth II's go-to vehicles? It came with two fuel options and the biggest engine, though, was petrol. It was a 3.0 litre V6 engine, which was the option Queen Elizabeth II had for this particular car. This surely is a car for the serious collector or Royalist and with a provenance which is impossible to match, this is unique! Please note that the private registration that you may have seen online or viewed in any publications is not being sold with the car.Photos of the Queen credited to Jim Bennett
1934 (1952 DVLA registration) Alvis Speed 20/25 SB €˜The Chris Compton Special' Transmission: manualMileage: As Motor Magazine opened in March 1932, The new Alvis Speed 20 is the type of car which looks right, feels right and is right. From the driver's point of view, the controls are all just where they are required and the power, speed and acceleration provided by the 'hotted-up' but, nevertheless, silky six-cylinder engine are literally an eye-opener to anyone accustomed to driving about in a more or less sedate manner in ordinary motor cars of medium size.€The original Alvis Speed 20 SA could be fitted with a variety of coachwork from coachbuilders such as Charlesworth, Cross & Ellis or Vanden Plas. The Speed 20 SB came along in 1933 with a new, slightly longer, braced chassis. The steering was taken from their racing models, but the engine remained the same apart from with the addition of synchromesh on first gear. The power and flexibility of powerplants available at the time, and indeed later on in its development, opened the door for extensive modifications from specialists in the field who produced sporting models that were amongst the fastest pre-war cars on the road.Chris Compton was one of these visionaries. Based in Wales, Compton's of Welshpool built, restored, repaired Alvis's for over 40 years and had an extensive group of clients who all shared the Alvis passion. During this time, he developed a reputation for craftsmanship and became a leading expert and proponent within the pre-war Alvis community.Winding down the business in recent years, he decided to create his swansong. One last car for himself, built to his own specifications, with no expense spared and he had every intention of keeping it for himself after his retirement but, unfortunately, he passed away shortly after it was completed in October 2016. And so it came to be;SPE 399 was designed as an open two-seater with facility for competition, whether that be circuit racing, hill climbs or even cross continental touring, it even has timing clocks fitted to the hand-machined dash for counting laps. Whilst it is not currently registered with the VSCC the major mechanical engine components required to make it eligible are included in the sale. This is confirmed as a correct SB rolling chassis (although registered as 1952 with the DVLA) that includes completely overhauled period brakes, steering column, wheels, servo, axles, as well as the independent front suspension. It's also been upgraded with an incredibly powerful Speed 25, 3,571cc engine. This was a well reputed engine in its original standard format, but Chris rebuilt this engine for his own competition car and, as such, has improved its performance dramatically. Unfortunately, we don't have any records of exactly what works were completed on the engine, but we do know that Chris spent a great deal of time and money on this particular element of the car in order to get it to his satisfaction, as is evident with its huge performance and smooth delivery. The lightweight, aluminium body is faultless with panels secured with stainless steel locking wire directly from a Harrier Jump Jet, but that's another story. He also took time to painstakingly impress each louvre along the bodywork and chassis rails.Needless to say, the all-synchro gearbox, differential and running gear are all completely rebuilt and a number of subtle upgrades have also taken place such as an overdrive unit, high-volume radiator, an external oil filter, Kenlowe fan, triple electric fuel pumps, battery isolator and a more modern 12-volt electrical system. The car also has a full tonneau cover and hood to enable it to be used in all weather conditions. The hand built folding windscreen mechanism has to be seen to be believed. All the individual components were cast and machined by Chris Compton and fabricated to fit the body shell like a glove. It's design allows it to be folded forward and separate aero screens can be attached to give it a true racing car look. The aero screens can also be attached to the side of the window mechanism to help direct wind away from the drivers face whilst travelling at speed. The vendor is quoted as saying, €œto say this car is fast would be an understatement!€ which reflects in the overall styling of the body finishing from its racing front end through to its boattail-style rear end. The car has only covered 56 miles since completion and it presents in immaculate condition throughout, starts on the button and settles to an even idle. This fabulous €˜Chris Compton Special' is a truly bespoke motorcar and occupies a very special place in the Alvis pantheon.
1968 Lancia Flaminia 3B (2.8 Litre) Transmission: manualMileage:92446The Flaminia Coupé was introduced at the Turin Motor show in 1958, nearly two years after the saloon. The styling was based on the Aurelia Florida designed by Battista Pininfarina and considered by many to be his most influential design, it was also his personal favourite and he drove one for the rest of his life. Flaminia initially had a single 'carburetted' much modified version of the Aurelia all alloy V6, with drum brakes but disc brakes replaced the drums early on. Triple carburettors replaced the single in 1962 and the Flaminia became the Flaminia 3B, the power went from 119 to 130bhp, in 1963 the engine was enlarged to 2.8 and the power was raised to 136bhp. The suspension consists of unequal length double wishbones with coil springs at the front and a De Dion axle at the rear, based on the all-conquering D50, this combined with 50/50 weight distribution due to having the engine at the front, gearbox and differential (transaxle) at the rear, made for excellent handling with light and direct steering. This very good, left hand drive, Lancia Flaminia 3B with the V6, 2.8 Litre engine is believed to have been delivered to the Dominican Republic in 1968, then being registered in Belgium in the early 1970's. Purchased and imported to the UK in 2005 as an incomplete restoration project it had all the bodywork properly repaired and repainted. It was given to a Rolls-Royce marque specialist to complete. The owner of the specialists purchased the car in 2012 and while in his ownership he has had it fully maintained; including overhauling the Dunlop brakes, strip-down and restored the carburettors and getting a new complete exhaust system sent over from Italy. Also supplied with the car is a new windscreen. Finished in silver with original maroon leather interior this Flaminia 3B is supplied with a V5 registration document, the original French handbook and a file containing invoices, old MoT test certificates and the import documents since 2005. This very good and reliable example certainly represents good value for money against the Touring and Zagato bodied cars which these are sure to follow.
1976 Maserati Bora (4.7 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:23441A rare car, only 42 right hand drive Maserati Boras were built, and just 289 fitted with the larger 4.7 litre engine, from a total production run of 571, and it was largely regarded as Maserati's first supercar. Unveiled in 1971, the Maserati Bora, named after the Adriatic wind, was undoubtedly one of the stars of the Geneva Motor Show. It was also Maserati's first mid-engined car with the glorious 90-degree 4.7-litre development of the Ghibli's V8 engine mounted behind the front seats, producing a healthy 310bhp at 6000rpm. The Bora transmitted its power to the road through a five-speed ZF transaxle gearbox, pushing this stunning Coupé to a top speed of 170mph.Equal to its impressive specification was its design, penned by the great Giorgetto Giugiaro, a man at the top of his game in 1971 and later named €˜Designer of the Century' in 1999, the Bora sought to bring sophistication to the mid-engined platform. Standing just 1138mm high, the Bora stole the show with its stylish, brushed stainless-steel roof and windscreen pillars, and a huge rear window, enveloping a stunning interior with sinuous bucket seats, and sumptuously leather clad dash, door trim, centre console and rear bulkhead. But it was also conceived as a grand tourer, with a decent-sized luggage compartment in the front and a carpeted engine cover in the rear. Maserati also fitted an adjustable pedal box, hydraulically operated brakes and pop-up headlamps, which were just some of the myriad innovations that showed the influence that new owner Citroen was to bring to bear.Customers included Karim Aga Khan and Italian movie producer Carlo Ponti, husband of Sophia Loren, and the Bora quickly proved itself to be a compelling alternative to a Ferrari, Porsche, or Lamborghini, and there is not a finer example on the market today.A €˜no expense spared restoration' and owned by the same family for 50 years, this exceptional Maserati Bora 4.7 litre was clearly a very treasured member of the family, for it has had over £150,000 lavished on it as part of a three-year restoration programme. The history file is remarkable by the sheer volume of invoices for work done between 2015-2018 by the respected restorers Kent High Performance Cars, formerly known as The Ferrari Centre of Maidstone. What started as a restoration estimated at nearly £50,000 tripled to a final cost of £150,000 to ensure that every tiny detail was addressed. It would take pages to itemise the work and be easier to say what has not been done to this car, but it would be difficult to find an example in such superb condition had you walked into the Maserati showroom in Slough back in November 1975 when the car was brand new. With a full engine and mechanical rebuild; complete body restoration and repaint to its original colour (silver); complete trim in Connolly hides to Maserati Vaumol specification and fully detailed, the list goes on. This is surely one of the finest examples available in todays market and is gushingly attractive and has the performance to match. However, it is important to note that the engine, since its rebuild, has developed a misfire, causing it to backfire when running, which has not been properly investigated. Offered without reserve, this presents itself as a very attractive investment. We recommend interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the condition of the lot prior to sale.
1971 Triumph Stag Transmission: automaticMileage:Stylish, fast and practical, the Stag began life as a Triumph 2000 based styling exercise by Italian carrossier, Giovanni Michelotti. A 2+2 convertible, Michelotti's design featured a quad-lamp grille and sculpted front and rear ends, the latter destined to appear on many future Triumphs. By the time production commenced in 1970, the 2000's six-cylinder engine had been replaced by a three litre V8. A padded, 'T' shaped roll-bar bracing the door pillars and windscreen was one of the Stag's most distinctive features and the model was available in soft top, hardtop or soft with hardtop formats. Motor Sport described the Stag's interior as, 'well appointed, having all the usual instrumentation one would expect in a high-performance car.'Originally registered on New Year's Day 1971, this early Stag has recently benefitted from some recommissioning and now presents extremely well in white with a contrasting red interior. The red carpets and black hood are also in good order. This Stag benefits from stainless-steel bumpers and manifolds. The rear brakes have been converted to discs, the differential has been upgraded and the gearbox is a four-speed Jaguar ZF example. We are informed by the enthusiast vendor that this Stag is a joy to drive and offers perfect summer fun. This is also a classic with a thriving club network. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document, this is a reasonably estimated example of the 70's icon.
1964 Austin Healey 3000 BJ7 Transmission: manualMileage:79714We are pleased to offer this delightful Austin Healey 3000 BJ7, built to represent the Works Healey of 1964. Over an 18 year period EBW 195B underwent extensive restoration works which still exudes with quality today. In fact, rarely seen with such a sports car, that it displays a character and a patina often missed with the overly glitzy restorations on the market so frequently. Retaining the left hand drive format it started with, the British Motoring Heritage Trust Certificate states that this big Healey was manufactured between 27th and 28th June 1963 and was dispatched to the USA on 22nd July of that year. The certificate also confirms that the car was dispatched with wire wheels, overdrive, a heater, an adjustable steering column, tonneau cover, whitewall tyres and a laminated windscreen. The Guards Red coachwork is in excellent order throughout with the standard continuing on the undersides. Of note are the panel gaps, which are an important detail, usually difficult to obtain with restorations of motor cars such as this. The front wings have the addition of the Works style vents and what really sets this Healey off, is the addition of a Works style hardtop with vent. It may be of interest to note that we are not sure whether this is a genuine Works hardtop, but it doesn't have the look of a new reproduction item however. On opening the bonnet, you will see the standard of workmanship has been maintained. The engine is supplied with triple 1¾ SU carburettors and the electrics supplied by an alternator conversion. Exhaust gases are extracted via the stainless-steel side exiting exhaust system. In addition, the brakes have been uprated and drive is via an overdrive gearbox and limited slip differential. In addition to the wire wheels, there is a set of knock-on Minilight style alloy wheels shod with excellent Dunlop SP Sport tyres. The interior continues on the inside with the excellent red piped black Connolly hide seats and matching Wilton carpets. A set of standard bumpers, in excellent condition, are also included should you wish to return this to a more traditional road looking car. The history file is as you would expect, comprehensive with detailed invoices and photos of the restoration combined with more recent works with Healy specialists JME; this includes a full shakedown and tune in April 2021 before a brake overhaul in June 2021 with electronic ignition added. We are informed the car is now a peach to drive and very fast! So, there you have it, a fabulous Austin Healey that is a pleasure to drive, offered from a private collection that looks and feels period and has all the right parts that make it the car it is today. Please inspect this Austin Healey and then ask yourself, what would this Austin Healey cost to build today? With that in mind, we're sure you will agree that it is offered with a very reasonable estimate.
1980 MG B GT Transmission: manualMileage:96285The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a Coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965 with production continuing until October 1980. The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking design by Pininfarina on launching the sporty 'hatchback' style. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the GT offered the utility of a hatchback while retaining the style and shape of a Coupé. This new configuration was a 2+2 design with a right-angled rear bench seat and far more luggage space than in the Roadster. Relatively few components differed although the MGB GT did receive different suspension springs and anti-roll bars and a modified windscreen which was more easily and inexpensively serviceable. Acceleration of the GT was slightly slower than that of the Roadster due to its increased weight. Top speed improved by 5mph to 105mph due to better aerodynamics. This interesting MGB GT Coupé was first registered on 1st August 1980 and has had just two owners from new. The MG has not been used much in recent years and as such requires recommissioning before use. It is also believed that the clutch or clutch master cylinder will need to be replaced before use. The history file that accompanies the car includes many old MoT test certificates and various significant maintenance bills. Offered without reserve we are sure this example, once recommissioned, will be huge amounts of fun for the new owner.

Sparkling little TD2 with only just over 200 miles since a comprehensive and finely detailed long-term restoration. The MG T-series, for most enthusiasts, epitomises the spirit of the Abingdon marque, delivering a blend of lively performance, vintage styling and above all, the sort of wind-in-the-hair driving experience one expects from a traditional British sports car. The original T-series Midget was launched before the war, evolving into the short-lived TB and TC models, before the TD was announced in November 1949, bringing with it the first major attempt at restyling since the end of WWII. With a track widened by some five inches to improve interior space, along with new independent coil spring front suspension and rack and pinion steering (sourced from the Y-type), the TD was sold with steel disc wheels in place of the previously used wire-spoked items and bumpers (with over-riders) were standard equipment as well. The interior was revised to make it more habitable but retained the flavour of the original T-series, with folding windscreen, full instrumentation, and a minimum of superfluous decoration. Powering the TD was essentially the same XPAG 1250cc engine in use since 1939, but an increased compression ratio from 1950 saw power up from 55bhp to 60bhp and, in July 1951, the XPAG received a new block, a new sump, a new bell-housing and a new flywheel in order to accommodate a larger clutch. The engine number prefix was changed to TD2, and MG TDs fitted with this engine have subsequently become known as TD2 models. With the sports car movement in the United States in full swing, it wasn't surprising that the vast majority of TD production crossed the Atlantic. Now finished in Old English White with the correct green grille slats and a superb Apple Green interior, this original, left-hand drive TD2 has undergone a chassis-up restoration and conversion to right-hand drive. Delivered new to California in 1952 before returning to the UK in 1986, the rebuild was commenced by a retired engineer in 1996 before finally reaching fruition some 25 years later in 2019. As is evident from our images, no stone was left unturned during this comprehensive and long term project from the chassis and body through all mechanical components to the trim and final detailing, all areas received fastidious attention. The sprung steering wheel looks original as do the instruments and switches, however, the dashboard and the door cards wear fresh Rexine and the bespoke monogrammed carpets finish off the lovely cockpit. As you might expect the engine bay is tidy and very impressive. The odometer currently reads 209 miles which we guess is post-restoration, so a further period of running-in is advised to bring the best out of this delightful MG. Some 70 years have passed since TD14680 rolled off the production line, however, it's once again resplendent in its traditional colour scheme and original specification including the delightful steel wheels as it would have been all those years ago. An instantly recognisable T-Series MG, extensively rebuilt and awaiting its next custodian.SpecificationMake: MGModel: MIDGETYear: 1952Chassis Number: TD14680Registration Number: XVV 741Transmission: ManualEngine Number: 10424Drive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Green HideClick here for more details and images
One of the 90 examples finished by Ford in the more refined road car specification and just 7,800 miles from new.Ask any rally fan to name their favourite era and chances are that the wild Group B years will be at the top of most people’s list. It was a time of uncompromising and completely unhinged machinery, with designers and engineers really pushing the edge of the envelope when it came to interpreting the rules and endowing these four-wheel-drive turbocharged monsters with the maximum possible performance. Perhaps the wildest of them all was Ford’s RS200 and where the Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205 T16 and even the Lancia Delta S4 were very obviously derived from their more mundane production cousins, Ford took a different route, designing and building a Group B car that looked – and drove – like no other Ford before or since.Ford had, of course, been part of the rallying furniture ever since the rear-drive Escort made its debut, but as the WRC entered the Group B era, it found itself without a machine to compete at this level. Unusually for Ford, the solution proved elusive and, with the Escort RS1700T failing miserably, they were forced to return to the drawing board and start all over again. The result was the RS200, however, they had now become ‘late starters' and were effectively three years behind. The car was styled by Ghia and, unusually, the bodywork for the majority of cars was entrusted to Reliant of Shenstone, a company who knew a fair bit about building fibreglass cars. The chassis engineering was looked after by F1 gurus Tony Southgate and John Wheeler. Naturally, four-wheel drive was essential and it was built around a space-frame chassis, Kevlar bodywork, and a potent mid-mounted engine courtesy of well-proven race engine builder Brian Hart. Add to this an innovative front-mounted gearbox for better weight distribution and balance, plus a variable torque-split differential from Ferguson, and you have a serious rally car. The RS200’s mid-mounted engine was a development of the RS1700T’s, but capacity was increased to 1803cc with a bore and stroke of 86.0 and 77.62mm respectively. It featured Ford/Bosch injection, and with an 8.2:1 compression ratio allied with a Garrett turbocharger in road-going trim it developed 246bhp at 6500-7000rpm and a maximum torque output of 215lb ft at 4000-5000rpm. The rally cars had significantly more to play with – 444bhp at a screaming 8000rpm and 361lb ft at 5500rpm.It looked like Ford finally had the package to win and things were looking promising after Kalle Grundell came home third in the Swedish Rally of 1986, however, the fickle finger of fate was soon to be pointed at Group B. After a series of tragedies with both drivers and spectators being killed, it became obvious that 600bhp, lightweight rally cars being threaded at three-figure speeds through banks of standing spectators was not the way forward and the decision was taken by the FIA to pull the plug on Group B at the end of the ‘86 season. As a result, after just one year in competition, it was all over for the RS200 so it never got to show off its full potential, however, it did prove that it had enormous promise with many of the cars being spectacularly successful in Rallycross particularly in the hands of Norwegian Martin Schanche.FIA Homologation Rules for Group B required the construction of at least 200 road-legal vehicles, however, the demise of Group B meant that only 144 were completed. Of these, 20 were further developed and sold as the RS200 Evolution with a 2.1-litre power unit, a number were disassembled for spares, and records indicate that 90 were converted to road cars with improved build quality and a number of creature comforts. In the true tradition of RS Fords, Silverstone Auctions are proud to offer this RS200 as one of the 90 cars Ford returned to the more refined road specification. Well documented, it was supplied by Frews of Perth, one of the nine Rallye Sport Dealers in Scotland, to Mr Brian Holmes in Derbyshire who was the former Managing Director of Chesterfield-based Auto Windscreens, which probably explains why it comes with a new boxed spare windscreen. The RS joined his Collection which included an RS500, also supplied by Frews. It was fitted with the 300bhp upgrade, a multi-light grille lamp-pod, full competition Sabelt harnesses and finished in Ford Motorsport’s iconic blue and white livery. The RS200 remained with the Holmes family until 2010 and had still only covered around a 1,000 miles when it was entrusted to RS200 expert Geoff Page for a total engine refresh. The work is fully documented in the history file. It revisited GPR again in October 2012 for a throttle pot and full spanner check before being exported to a collector in Japan. He decided to reduce his collection and it returned to the UK last month with an indicated mileage of 7,794. It's supplied with the original alloys, spare screen, light-pod cover, original exhaust and its factory owner's manual.Group B rally cars with the cachet of the RS200 seldom come to market and, with its solid timeline and lovely condition, this is a super example and we welcome and encourage your close inspection. If this lot remains in the UK it will be subject to a reduced rate of import duty of 5% on the hammer price. An early, Pre-A Speedster on a set of Rudge knock-off alloys, one of the most collectable Porsches of all time.Porsche’s remarkable 356 put the Zuffenhausen Company firmly on the automotive map in the 1950s, with Dr Ferdinand’s original design - a somewhat basic sports car closely based on Volkswagen’s Beetle - evolving into a technically advanced, beautifully resolved machine over a production life spanning more than 15 years. The earliest 356s were powered by a Volkswagen-derived flat-four displacing 1068cc and rated at 40hp, but the 1300cc engine became an option from 1951 onwards. In 1952, the body was refined with a one-piece windscreen (bent in the middle) and revised bumpers, while a new 1488cc engine became available with a roller-bearing crankshaft, twin Solex carburettors and a handy 60bhp on tap. Other improvements included duplex front brakes, a rear parcel shelf and revised instrumentation (the tacho became standard). Stronger brakes, full synchromesh gearboxes across the range and a new two-spoke steering wheel appeared in 1953 and two new 1500cc engines were introduced, the 55bhp standard unit and the 70bhp 'Super'. Sold in Coupé, Cabriolet and Speedster variants, the so-called ‘Pre-A’ 356 is highly prized amongst collectors for its rarity and purity of design. Built at the instigation of Porsche’s North American distributor, Max Hoffman, the original Speedster was a stripped down, open-topped version of the 356 and became very successful in North America as a dual-purpose sports car, proving popular with amateur racing drivers competing in SCCA events. Porsche built approximately 920 Pre-A Speedsters before adopting the new Type 616/1 and 616/2 engines in October 1955 and a total of 1,234 Pre-A cars were made prior to the official introduction of the 356A in January 1956. The left-hand drive Speedster we have on offer here is an early one, indeed it’s the 347th car produced and the accompanying Kardex card confirms that it was completed on 3rd March 1955 prior to being delivered to Hoffman’s in New York City.Little is known about the car's early history although it has been enjoyed by its current owner for more than 20 years in Monaco. Recently, it's been looked after by award-winning Porsche restorers, Sportwagen in Southend as well as JAZ Porsche and recent attention includes a minor service with the relevant documentation on file.Sitting on a set of the desirable and valuable Rudge knock-off alloy wheels, the 356 is now attractively finished in Dunkelblau with a grey leatherette interior. The original colour was Signal Red according to the Kardex and additionally the Speedster now also boasts a more powerful 1600 cc engine.Overall, this is a car to use and enjoy, it's one for a driving enthusiast. If you’re after a matching numbers, Concours restoration with history from new, then this car is perhaps not for you, however, if you’re in the market for a highly usable example that you could still be proud to own and is priced very competitively, then this cracking little Speedster may well be worth the effort to come and see it in the metal at our NEC sale and investigate a bit further. Thanks in part to its association with glamorous film stars like James Dean and Steve McQueen, the 356 Speedster has always been a very desirable Porsche and any Pre-A version ranks amongst the most collectable Porsches of all, with a cult following that shows no signs of waning.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 356Year: 1955Chassis Number: 80347Registration Number: 670 UXBTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Left-hand DriveMake: LHDInterior Colour: LeatheretteClick here for more details and images
Rarely do these beautiful and well-engineered R107 Roadsters come to market in such lovely condition. It's hard to believe that the R107 Mercedes SL is now over 50 years old, yet in 1971 this new chapter in the history of the SL sports car began. It was the first SL with a V8 engine, it had a thoroughly modern new design, it was a self-confident motor car; sporty yet luxurious, quick yet comfortable. In many ways it was, and remains, the perfect convertible. The new SL featured a number of technical innovations such as defined crumple zones, high-strength steels in the A-pillars, a windscreen frame with bonded glass, padded surfaces and deformable elements in the interior. From March 1980, ABS was available and from January 1982, a driver’s airbag and belt tensioners. The ultimate engine choice in Europe was to be found with the 500SL of 1980, with 240bhp available (bearing in mind a Porsche 911 offered a 'mere' 204 bhp at the time). The interiors became even more luxurious, the car's weight was reduced with new alloy bonnets and boot lids and in 1985, the range was revised for the final time with a redesigned engine for the 500SL with electronic ignition and Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection, revised suspension, improved rust-proofing and some new wheels. The 500SL on offer here does date from 1985 and is splendidly finished in blue black metallic with cream perforated hide. Being one of the last produced, pre-facelift, the specification is extensive, listing amongst others, green glass with a top tint, cruise control, heated seats, air conditioning, limited-slip differential, remote central locking and the familiar Mercedes fire extinguisher. With attention to detail at the forefront of the current owners mind, it should be noted that the original and complete tool roll remains in place alongside the unused first aid kit. Also accompanying the car is a comprehensive service history and associated paperwork including a fresh MOT Certificate due to expire 2nd November 2023. With unblemished paintwork, an outstanding interior, newly fitted hood and a colour-matched hardtop, this is a simply exceptional example of these timeless roadsters and would happily grace any serious collection.SpecificationMake: MERCEDESModel: 500Year: 1985Chassis Number: WDB1070462A033964Registration Number: C327 FWWTransmission: AutoEngine Number: 11796222006418Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 88470 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Magnolia HideClick here for more details and images
One owner from new, presented in the iconic Focus RS colour of Ultimate Green, and one of the lowest mileage Mk2 RS' in the world having covered just 357 miles from new.As a result of the ‘interesting’ launch of the Mk1 Focus RS, the decision was made to never build another Focus RS. Thankfully, Ford went back on their word and the second generation Focus RS was released in 2009. The car they built was a limited run, 300bhp 'super-hatch' and they did not hold back one bit. With its huge twin-blade spoiler at the back, aggressive body kit, and ballistic performance from the turbocharged 2.5-litre, five-cylinder engine, the car was launched with a hugely vibrant Ultimate Green paint scheme. Only 11,500 examples were built in a production run that lasted a little over three years, with just 4,000 finding homes in the UK.The RS stayed true to its lineage and opted to remain front-wheel drive over four-wheel drive, but with a combination of Ford’s trick Revo-Knuckle front suspension, a Quaife limited-slip diff, and well-judged ESP, the Mk2 did a great job of laying the power down and managing the torque-steer while still providing plenty of involvement. The chassis was stiffened by around 30% and featured bigger driveshafts, a wider track, lower ride-height, and a faster steering rack translating into remarkably civilised road manners with a fabulous bite when you wound it up. With 301bhp and a massive 324lb.ft on tap, the RS could hit 60 mph in under 6.0 seconds and topped 160 mph, all accompanied by the throaty five-cylinder warble, plenty of turbo flutter, and even the occasional pop and bang from the exhausts. When you weren’t on a charge, the RS was a polite and practical hatchback capable of returning 25-30mpg, easy to park, offered plenty of boot space and was reasonably quiet at a constant speed. However, with its gaping grille, 19-inch wheels, flared arches, deep diffuser and a wing that would embarrass a Porsche Turbo, the RS left you in no doubt about its intentions. This 2009 Focus RS Mk 2 is finished in the iconic launch colour of Ultimate Green and is in outstanding condition. As standard, it comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, eight speakers, a heated windscreen, and auto-levelling Xenon headlights with jet wash. This example was specified as the very desirable Lux Pack 1, equipping the car with dual-zone air conditioning, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, keyless start, rear parking sensors, and auto lights/wipers. The interior is finished in black with Dynamica partial-leather Recaro seats which appear unmarked, as do the carpets, presenting the whole of the interior in ‘as new’ condition. The car has lived a life of luxury in a heated garage and remained completely standard all its life, as it left the factory. The current indicated mileage is 357 and the service records have been stamped by Jermyn & Sons Seaford, Ford Main Dealers with the most recent being recorded at 328 miles. With the prices of performance Fords continuing to rise across the board, particularly the modern classics such as the Mk1 Focus RS and Mk2 Focus RS500, this 2009 example with its single ownership, high specification and borderline unrepeatable low mileage is perfectly suited to being nestled into a collection, enthusiastically driven, or ideally a combination of the two.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: FOCUS RS MK2Year: 2009Chassis Number: WF0GXXGCDG9B47148Registration Number: GV09 ZKCTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 9B47148Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 353 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images
Very impressive Plus 8 restored and upgraded to a level rarely seen.Although Rover's attempts to acquire the Morgan Car Company in 1966 had proved fruitless, it nevertheless granted the sports car manufacturer access to its newly acquired, ex-Buick lightweight aluminium V8 engine with a view to cementing a supply contract. Hired by the Malvern works to assess the powerplant's merits/suitability, race engineer Maurice Owen lost little time in shoehorning one into a Morgan Plus 4 chassis. With trials of the resultant prototype successfully undertaken in 1967, the Plus 8 debuted at the following year's Earls Court Motor Show. Its lengthy production run has seen the Plus 8 alter little in outward appearance, save for ever widening wheelarches accommodating fatter rubber, yet beneath the skin the changes have been innumerable. Better gearboxes, fuel injection, rack-and-pinion steering, improved corrosion protection and paint, telescopic rear dampers, air bags and the obligatory catalytic converter have all become part of the Plus 8 picture over the years, along, of course, with bigger engines to offset the inevitable increase in weight.Dating from 1990, E9 MOG was chosen by our vendor for it’s exceptional build quality having been restored by renowned Morgan expert Kevin Vernon of Tudor Motors. During the process the car benefitted from many refinements and upgrades and it's estimated that the parts and labour costs for the enhancements and upgrades ‘E9 MOG’ enjoys, would be in the region of £40,000 in today’s market. These include;· RPI new Land Rover 4.6-litre V8 engine - recent Dyno rolling-road test indicating 230bhp· RPI Piper 272 fast road cam· RPI lightened flywheel· RPI Superflare plenum trumpets· RPI chromed Morgan plenum chamber· Jaguar/Bosch AFM· FSE adjustable rising-rate fuel pressure regulator· Mallory Unilite distributor (bespoked to the car)· Mallory high performance chrome coil· RPI chromed valve covers· Morgan branch manifolds (metalized)· Stainless twin Morgan exhaust system· JEGS polished stainless exhaust tips· Griffin bespoke performance-fit aluminium radiator· SPAL electric cooling fan· Mulberry polished aluminium overflow· Morgan R380 5-speed gearbox (rebuilt)· Morgan Salisbury steering rack· Mulberry anti-tramp bars· Shortened Morgan rebound springs· Morgan suspension rear hoop· Hard chromed Kingpins with bronze bushes· Rutherford AVO shock absorbers (front & rear)· Caparo Morgan brake hydraulics & calipers (upgraded)· Portferfield fast road brakes· Kunifer brake lines & stainless flexible brake hoses· 4 x New Michelin Primacy tyres· Refurbished alloy wheels· Fully refurbished chassis (stripped, primed, painted & sealed) with stainless steel fittings· Wooden chassis elements removed & re-treated with another Cuprinol coat· New Superform (lightweight) front & rear wings· Polished Heart of England front & rear plinths, door latch covers etc· Morgan telescopic mirror bases with upgraded mirrors· Chromed Morgan windscreen supports· Polished stainless luggage carrier· Jaguar X120 Tri-pod halogen headlamps· Lucas LR576 chrome sport lamps· Bespoke Kauffelt dash made by Mathias (incorporating VDO instruments)· Bespoke rear storage bins· 6006E 6-Disc CD multi-changer (Burr Walnut Fascia) with Infinity speakers· Original mohair top, tonneau & side-screens· Classic chrome lap-latch seatbelt systemThe car appears superbly finished in Bentley Sapphire Blue with a discreet pearl-effect and the original leather upholstery has been well cared-for and remains in excellent condition. ** Awaiting new V5C from the DVLA **A lovely BJ8 that's been in current private ownership for over 30 years. The Austin-Healey 3000 is the very epitome of the classic British sports car and one of the very few cars that can be said to have attained classic status whilst still in production. Quite an achievement then, but not an altogether unexpected one considering Austin-Healey's heritage coupled with its achievements in motorsport. The 3000 Mk III (BJ8) with 150bhp appeared early in 1964 to be followed later in the year by the Phase II version which featured a brace of HD8 SU carburettors, stronger valve springs, a revised camshaft, walnut-veneered dashboard, wind-up windows, a redesigned rear chassis, addressing a long-term criticism of the car's notoriously poor ground clearance, and revised rear suspension incorporating twin radius-arms instead of a Panhard rod. Top speed was now 121mph and the 0-60mph time dipped below 10 seconds. Despite the antiquity of the basic design, the 'Big Healey' remained as popular as ever, although increasingly stringent safety and emissions legislation meant that its days were numbered and by the time production ended in December 1967, over 16,000 Phase IIs - by far the most popular variant - had been built.According to the accompanying Heritage Trust Certificate, this lovely, late-production BJ8 was despatched to Boston, USA on 7th December 1966 in left-hand drive format and was originally finished in British Racing Green with a black leather interior. It was specified from new with wire wheels, overdrive, heater, an adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen, Avon Road Speed tyres and a black tonneau cover which was pretty much the entire options list in 1966.The Healey returned to these shores at the end of the 80s and was purchased by our vendor's late husband in 1989. It has remained in current private family ownership for over 30 years meaning that this BJ8 is excitingly on the market for the first time in over three decades. Now in right-hand drive and classically finished in the striking combination of Colorado Red over Jet Black with chrome wire wheels, red-piped, black leather seats and a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel, this car has clearly been well looked after during its long-term ownership. Indeed, it has resided in a car bubble for the past five years ensuring it presents so well today.Supplied with a history file, including the aforementioned Heritage Certificate, and a fresh MOT prior to the sale, this is a rare opportunity to purchase this delightful example of the final development of the venerable Healey 3000 from long term ownership and at a very sensible guide.SpecificationMake: AUSTIN-HEALEYModel: 3000Year: 1966Chassis Number: H-BJ8-L/39379Registration Number: TBCTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images
