Born in Burnley in 1927, Greta was a gifted artist, draftswoman and colourist. In the 1950s, she worked as a Fashion Artist at Rowntrees Department Store in Scarborough. But she is perhaps best known for her work as an original artist at the beloved 1950’s Eagle Magazine featuring Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future. Her keen eye for fashion also led her to preserve a range of day and evening wear, plus shoes and costume accessories, belonging to her and her mother.
